In 1937, Hungary’s Ministry of Defence ordered Dezső Winkler, mechanical engineer and development department manager of the Rába Magyar Vagon-és Gépgyár works (MWG) to design a 1.5-tonne truck to be developed as a personnel carrier and gun tractor.
