Bikers’ tribute to fallen

Military veterans and the public are joining forces to commemorate those who fought thousands of miles from home 40 years ago, defending British citizens of the Falkland Islands. Callum Dickson details plans for this year’s salute – the motorcycle ride of remembrance

Service personnel who pay the ultimate price should never be forgotten, but it is fair to say that those who fought in 1982 for the Falkland Islands do seem further from public thought than our World War heroes, or those who fell more recently in Iraq and Afghanistan.
