RAF Manston Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum

A gem of a museum centred on an immaculate Spitfire and Hurricane can be found right next to the historic former RAF airfield of Manston. Museum manager Matt Demedts takes us on a guided tour.

Located close to Kent’s east coast, RAF Manston has a long and distinguished history. Although it opened during the Great War, the station is perhaps better known for the part it played in later conflicts. From the outbreak of the war with Germany in September 1939, Manston was firmly on the front line, especially during the Battle of Britain of 1940.
