A “remarkable” collection from the estate of Captain Ralph Kerr amassed almost £60,000 at Dawsons Auctioneers

Born on August 16, 1891, Ralph Kerr CBE was a long-serving officer who joined the Royal Navy in 1904 as a boy and was commissioned as a lieutenant in 1914. After spending much of World War One serving on battleships, participating in the Battle of Jutland, Kerr was appointed to lead the destroyer HMS Cossack in 1918. He commanded several destroyers between the wars, being promoted to commander in 1927 and to captain in 1935.
