Apair of amphibious DUKWs that came up for sale recently on Milweb made me think about an exchange in the House of Commons on July 15, 1946, about the “scandalous” sale of these vehicles at the time. Questions were asked about the price the vehicles were sold for.

Hansard tells us that Mr Osborne MP asked the minister of supply whether he would appoint a special committee of inquiry into the sale of surplus government vehicles, given the irregularities which had taken place over the sale of 25 amphibious ‘ducks’.
