Echoes of War 1962: Mehrzweck Universal Geländewagen mit Allradantrieb

The Auto Union Munga F91/6 was a quarter-tonne 4x4 produced for the German Federal Republic’s forces from 1962 to 1968. In this guise it was powered by a 981cc, two-stroke engine and the rear bench seats were accessed via the hinged rear tailgate

This feature’s title is particularly apposite this month because, as the success of the Willys Jeep during World War Two echoed down the years, post-war, numerous nations sought to construct their own lightweight 4x4.
