AJOINT APPROACH TO the complex combat search and rescue (CSAR) mission needs carefully planned training events in order to ensure cohesion. Helicopters are required to swiftly infiltrate dangerous combat zones carrying extraction teams to rescue friendly forces, while being protected by fast jet top cover. Unmanned platforms often provide intelligence, and all this is choreographed by airborne early warning and control assets operating as the ‘eyes on high’.
