Craig Moore raises concerns over Field Marshal William Edmund Ironside’s grave site in Norfolk

Many years ago, my mother-inlaw downsized and moved to the attractive old market town of Hingham in Norfolk, about 16 miles west of Norwich.

While visiting and walking to the pub one day, I spotted a blue plaque on the outside of a detached Georgian cottage that proudly proclaimed: ‘Field Marshal Lord Edmund Ironside 1880-1959, Chief of Imperial General Staff WWII lived here 1937- 1959’. I was surprised as I would not have expected this giant of a man to have made his home in such a quiet country town.
