Buffalo 47 to be joined by Hurricane and Spitfire at June event
An event to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of floods which devastated a village in Lincolnshire will not only have a World War Two-era LVT-4 on display but will also see a flypast from two iconic aircraft.
Crowland Buffalo LVT Association chairman Daniel Abbott said he had received confirmation that a Hurricane and a Spitfire would conduct flypasts at the Crowland 1940s weekend on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 respectively. This is the same event that Buffalo 47 will be on display to the public.
The village of Crowland was cut off from the outside world following heavy flooding in 1947. Around 30 LVTs used in World War Two were sent to the area to ferry supplies to a site where a flood defence wall had been breached, resulting in the loss of some.
