BATTLEFIELD HERITAGE

THE LION'S MOUNT, AN ARTIFICIAL MONUMENT COMPLETED IN 1826, IS ESPECIALLY STRIKING IN WINTER GLAURENT

The wonder of military history is that it is all around us. But where to visit? The choice is awesome. My business aside, I do think it is important to hire a guide. Some of the most important moments and stories of our collective heritage are in non-descript fields, slight rises in the ground and mere twists in the road. A guide can bring these landscapes to life, ensuring remarkable stories are not forgotten.

Whether your chosen destination be a village war memorial, the lone white headstones in churchyards or something further afield, whatever period you are interested in, there is always somewhere to explore. Here, I guide you through a range of my favourite sites, outlining not only some of the history of what went on there, but the varied experiences you might expect in each place.
