Seeing Nick Mowbray’s Fox armoured car in action and meeting the original crew that he had brought together 30 years after they served in the vehicle was one of the most memorable moments of the Capel Military Show 2023. The full designation of the Fox was FV721 Fox, Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Wheeled), a 4×4 armoured car, manufactured for the British Army in 1973 by the Royal Ordnance Factor y in Leeds.

Nick used the money he had received from the sale of a Jeep to buy the Fox. He intended to fix it up to show condition, enjoy driving it and then move it on and start the next project. An issue with the gears became apparent after it had been driven a couple of times, but to get to the gearbox the turret had to be removed, as it was right in the centre of the vehicle.
