New Zealand resident Tony Bates shares his interest in old military vehicles, especially Jeeps
My interest in military vehicles dates to when I was a child. It started one family holiday when the person who camped next to us had a military vehicle, but it would be 50 years before I did anything about it. In late 2013, a friend stopped outside my house to show me a F60S CMP truck he had just bought with the aim of restoring it. That is what got me motivated and I started looking around for a Jeep as I thought it would be an easier project for me to begin with.
I found a Ford GPW Jeep advertised online and it was only a four-hour drive away. At that point, I did not know there was a Ford version of the Jeep, but within a week I was having a look over it.
