A great success

Toby Savage reports on another successful staging of the popular Victory Show

What started as a one-off commemoration of VE Day 16 years ago, has become one of the biggest gatherings of military vehicles, planes and assorted memorabilia in the UK. The Victory Show creates a most realistic insight into life between 1939 and 1945.

As well as carefully rehearsed battle re-enactments, there are static displays where clubs and individuals put in a tremendous amount of effort to ensure every detail of their particular set is as accurate as possible. The show is not just about the military aspects, it also illustrates what was going on at home, with displays of the home guard and farming in the war years, as well as domestic life.
