This year’s North Northumberland Military Vehicle Weekend was unusually fine and sunny – Duncan Glen was there

For a number of years, the North Northumberland Military Vehicle Weekend has been the Northumbria Tyne Tees MVTs main social event of the year. Friends from far and wide congregate at West Fenton Farm hosted by the Henderson family for a weekend of good company, copious amounts of food and lashings of splendid Hadrian & Border Brewery beer courtesy of brewer, club member and staunch Land Rover man David Bell.

The main event of the weekend is a road run through the highways and byways of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders taking in coast and castles, remote valleys and hills and tranquil countryside.

The run this year was intended to cover some new territory but the enjoyment of the participants would be considerably diminished if the poor weather we were experiencing continued and obscured the normally stunning views; the entire run would have to be made with canvases cocooning the occupants.

My 1941 Humber Super Snipe staff car slipped quietly into the farmyard through a mass of puddles and came to a halt, the first and only vehicle on the site.
