Grizzly Auction

Military Vehicle Market

Nigel Hay’s round-up of the military vehicle market

My recent query about the whereabouts of the Sherman Grizzly survivors that were imported to the UK in the 1980s seemed to reach the USA. As we go to press, a nice example – which we assume is the ex-Littlefield collection one – came up for auction and the high bid was €480,000, which would have made it the highest price for a Grizzly since records began. However, even this incredible figure did not hit the reserve price, so it is unsold.

If it is one of those which landed in the UK from Portugal in the early 1980s and features in a reader reply (see page 20), it is in a very nice clean condition. Clearly, the Grizzly has had a lot of effort and attention put did not hit the into its restoration.

Hopefully, the high bidder and the underbidder will keep an eye on Milweb in the coming months as we know at least one Sherman will be coming up for sale – at a more realistic price.

Having recently offered a running and driving Stug for sale, Airborne Garage in Holland has now offered a Panther on behalf of a German client.
