Military Spirit Gin
THIS GIN from the Silverstone Distillery (located close to the world-famous race track which was itself built on a former World War Two RAF bomber station) was the brainchild of two British Army veterans. Hand-distilled in small batches at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, the tipple is a blend of British botanicals with historical and current military connotations.
These include lime flowers used to calm soldiers during World War Two, gorse with its coconut flavour and aroma which is found around military training areas, the bitter undertones of yarrow, also known as Soldier’s Woundwort, and hawthorn and heather berries which are symbolic of admiration and protection.
