WITH THE establishment of Britain’s first airborne formations in June 1940, it was quickly realised that the specialist parachute and gliderborne infantry would need lightweight vehicles to help them reach their objective, for reconnaissance, and to carry messages. The limited-edition Pegasus is the latest motorcycle from the oldest brand in continuous production. Inspired by the Royal Enfield WD/ RE 125 ‘Flying Flea’, produced for airborne forces at the underground factory in Westwood, Pegasus continues the proud and enduring legacy of Royal Enfield’s role in British military manufacturing. The new motorcycle was produced in association with the Parachute Regiment and is a tribute to its predecessor and to the airborne soldiers who used it in action during the landings at Normandy and Arnhem.
