Nigel Hay’s round up of the military vehicle market
Despite the coronavirus and subsequent lockdowns taking place in many countries around the world, the military vehicle hobby has not stopped. It has slowed, but hopefully by the time you read this a degree of normality will have returned to life. Most shows up until July have either been cancelled or postponed. At the time of writing this column in April, The War and Peace Revival was still going ahead but sadly all VE Day events for May 8 had to be cancelled and we lost a major chance to showcase our vehicles.
In the meantime, our fellow enthusiasts are keeping calm and carrying on and using the enforced ’gardening leave’ fo finish restorations and do the myriad of jobs our vehicles need.
Talking to the trade sellers, while it is currently all distance selling - online and phone - military vehicle paint is selling at unprecedented levels, as well as large numbers of spares and service items. Auctions that were not postponed are now fully online with Cheffyn’s sale of the Eisenhower Jeep now taking place on July 18.
