Nigel Hay’s round up of the military vehicle market
As life slowly shifts to this new version of ‘normal’ and restrictions are lifted, the military vehicle market has started to gather pace. In the past three weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of vehicles offered for sale and a noticeable increase in buyers opening their wallets.
As well as having unplanned time for restoration and maintenance work, the period of confinement has led to enthusiasts with multiple vehicles making decisions about rationalising their collections. The conversation in many households has probably been along the lines of ‘you really don’t need three Jeeps and all those old engines – we could use the space and the money…’
Just for a bit of light relief, the world’s first virtual military show was held on Facebook over the May bank holiday weekend. There were some hilarious postings and some interesting and good-natured debates about what we like and dislike about shows. One person posted some excellent footage of those heady days at War and Peace in 1997 with more armour than you could wish for.
