November 5, 1946, and the general committee of 324 (South Shields) Squadron Air Training Corps held its annual meeting at its Bollingbroke Street HQ in the Tyneside town.

Following the usual pleasantries and business the minutes noted that the officer commanding (OC), Flight Lieutenant Brooks, took a moment to reflect on the success of his squadron in the five years since its formation.
