Museum of the Month: The Dragon’s Den

I first learned of the Dragonman and his military museum from an article and related video that described 74-year-old Mel Bernstein as being the’most armed man in America’.

A 1917 Dodge truck. This model was the first Dodge truck built for the US Army. Only 1,000 were produced

His 260-acre (105 hectare) site houses a military museum, firing range, dirt bike track, paintball park and gun store. The museum has displays of arms, equipment, vehicles, and various other items from every major war that the US has been involved in since 1914.

There is a room for each war. Mel claims to have 92 running vehicles, more than 1,200 uniformed mannequins, 5,000 helmets and more than 3,000 working firearms.

Many of the items, especially the uniforms, have been donated by former US troops or their families, Also, many items have been donated by soldiers from the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), or 10th SFG(A), based at nearby Fort Carson, Colorado.
