Haynes T-34 manual
Although a UK release date for the Russian box office smash movie T-34 has yet to be announced, you can’t help feeling that it will give a timely boost to this latest addition to Haynes’ historic owners workshop manual series.
Unlike the workshop manuals that helped those of us ‘of an age’ keep bikes and cars running in the 1980s and 90s, these manuals focus on the development of military vehicles, their pedigree and timeline.
They won’t give you step-by-step illustrations on how to change the oil of a T-34 but they will give you a solid understanding of the vehicle and its variants.
Relying primarily on archive photographs, the manual also includes a walk-around chapter with modern images of the Tank Museum, Bovington’s static display T-34.
With the T-34 still on active service in some theatres (there’s a 2017 image of a T-34 being employed in the Yemeni Civil War) this covers almost 80 years of service and does it well.
Verdict: If you want to understand the T-34 and what made it so influential, this is a great addition to your library.
Panzer Rollen
As a contrast to Tank Manual Normandy 1944, Panzer Rollen is the translation of two German field manuals captured by US Military Intelligence.
