While the galleries are noticeably quieter around Christmas, one team in particular is working hard behind the scenes

In the months since the Covid pandemic began, e-commerce has become an important part of our fundraising efforts at The Tank Museum.

So, the wave of Christmas shoppers ordering books, models and tank novelties is particularly welcome - and the retail team are furiously assembling and packaging orders as I write.

This seasonal activity is a relatively new phenomenon at the museum. It was only because of the pandemic that we were able to spend time developing our online shop.

When we closed our doors for the first lockdown in March 2020, we realised it was the only thing we could do to raise funds.
