Overlord Show 2022

Anybody who puts themselves forward to organise a military vehicle show has my greatest respect, writes Tim Gosling who attended this year’s Overlord Show in June

There is a vast amount of work that goes into organising a military vehicle show. Things like toilets, security, car parking, catering, arena and stalls all need arranging and that’s before organisers get on to the more interesting matters such as the vehicles and living history. To undertake such a task well requires a good team and luckily, for the Overlord Show, volunteers from the Solent Overlord Executive step up to meet the challenge.

The 2022 Overlord Show took place at Denmead over the weekend of June 3-5. After bouncing back from Covid last year, the show this year faced the problem of rocketing fuel prices. Military vehicles are never known for fuel economy and with the increase in the cost of living, some vehicle owners might have been priced out of attending.
