Projects Galore at Leading Canadian Aviation Museum

VOLUNTEERS AND staff at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Hamilton, Ontario, are working on several impressive aircraft restoration projects, and have recently passed some major milestones. The group has announced that its Bristol Bolingbroke IVT will now be completed as a highly-detailed ground display, rather than returning to the sky as previously planned.

The team says the restoration has been one the longest and more complicated projects it has undertaken, and for more than 30 years, a dedicated and talented group has been working with several discarded and scattered Bolingbrokes and various parts in the hope of restoring one airworthy aircraft. The status and scope of the project were reviewed at length during a recent meeting with senior museum staff and this industrious volunteer restoration team. After a very thoughtful and open group discussion, and in consideration of the real-world challenges involved in restoring and then safely operating an airworthy Bolingbroke, it was decided by the team to continue restoring this aircraft for ground operations.
