Event Heatons Bridge MVT Show
Twice a year the Heatons Bridge Inn at Scarisbrick, Ormskirk, Lancashire, plays host to gatherings of the local MVT. The canal-side pub has a large grassed area and even its own World War Two Home Guard two-storey brick pillbox, many of which were sited along the canal network and served as defence lines in the event of a western invasion of the UK.
Heatons Bridge Inn, with the Abbot tank and field gun with its huge barrel pointed skywards out front, certainly slows down the passing traffic, many of the drivers turning around to visit this free-entry show.
Unfortunately for the participants it rained heavily on Friday night and the combination of waterlogged field and heavy military vehicles resulted in a quagmire. However the sun came out on Saturday afternoon and throughout Sunday, lifting spirits.
As ever, Kevin Reilly’s expanding collection of trucks formed the core of the event with Bedford, Commer, Diamond T, Antar and a Swiss Saurer DM on display together with his Abbot tank and huge field gun.
