‘Tankies’ Victoria Cross Goes on Display

AN AUSTRALIAN man has been reunited with his late uncle’s identity disk, discovered earlier this year by a Dutch recovery team trawling the bottom of the Wadden Sea. Greg Black’s father and uncle both served in the RAAF during the Second World War, and flew bombing raids over occupied Europe. Stuart Black (Greg’s father) also went on to fly raids over Japanese-occupied Burma – an uncomfortable situation as he was afraid of bombing his compatriots held as POWs.
