Staying Warm

Robert U’Ren from Willys Jeep UK shares some of his helpful fixes and tips on buying, selling, repairing and recommissioning World War Two and Hotchkiss Jeeps

Someone on Facebook recently sent me a picture of an original period Willys Jeep heater; very rare and almost impossible to find. However, nature finds a way as they say, and I recently spoke with fellow Jeep owner Rob Hine who has sourced and fitted a readily available small compact modern heater to his 1960 Hotchkiss Jeep. It fits the space very nicely and it works really well.

The heater unit incorporates a tiny radiator and an electric fan, the same simple design as most classic vehicles have. It allows hot water from the engine through two pipes which are connected to the heater.
