The Tank Museum’s head of marketing Nik Wyness discusses some of the preparations to ensure Tankfest goes ahead this year
Tankfest, the popular annual event which showcases some of the world’s finest armour, has this year been moved from its usual June slot to September. Organisers of the show, which takes place from September 17 to 20, rescheduled the event due to restrictions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
Nik Wyness, head of marketing at The Tank Museum, said: “We’re planning Tankfest on the assumption that by mid-September, the UK vaccine roll-out will be almost complete and levels of infection in the community will have sufficiently subsided to make public gatherings possible.
“But we can’t assume that everything will be back to ‘normal’ by then so we’ve had to make some changes to how the event will run. For now, we have to assume that we will need to operate in a way that will accommodate social distancing and minimise crowding.”
