Behind the Scenes
Following a busy summer season, The Tank Museum workshop team is restarting mothballed projects and undertaking routine maintenance on the running fleet
Between July and September, the team was flat out in support of The Tank Museum’s event programme. As we looked to revive visitor figures in the wake of the pandemicenforced closure, Tiger Day was immediately followed by the demands of the summer school holidays - and an incredible 30 Tanks in Action shows.
Alongside this, 37 historic vehicles were being prepared for live displays during our four-day Tankfest event.
As a charity, we will often talk about the success of our events from a fundraising perspective. But without the workshop team, there would be no shows at all.
The success of our events relies on their success in safely wrangling reluctant and spluttering machines into respectable order.
