The Panzerkampfwagen I was the first tank to be produced under the Third Reich with production beginning in 1934. Its use by Spain in the Spanish Civil War was followed by its highly successful deployment by Germany during its invasion of Poland in 1939 and of France in 1940. It was armed with two 7.92 mm MG13 machine guns. Altogether 1,943 tanks were produced.
