•They were the forgotten army of Home Front heroes, who, without cover from the weather or from Hitler’s bullets, shells, bombs and V-weapons, helped feed the nation at home and our fighting forces abroad. Though they wore uniform, this army was unusual in that it had no firearms and was entirely female
