The finished Vulcan cockpit section.
LUKE WEBSTER

AFTER SOME 18 months of work, the cockpit section of Avro Vulcan B.2 XL388 has been restored at the South Yorkshire Air Museum, Doncaster, Yorkshire. The project’s completion was marked with a special ceremony on 11 August. The V bomber has been finished in a Cold War all-white nuclear ‘anti-flash’ livery and carries the ‘Mayflower III’ name that it originally wore while serving with IX (B) Sqn at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, in the mid-1960s.
