The Tanks, The Terror, The Truth

In a world first, The Tank Museum has just launched an exhibition that brings every member of the Tiger Tank family together in one display – CMV’s Vicky Turner reports

For the first time ever within one exhibition hall, The Tank Museum showcases from their own collection, a Tiger 1, two Tiger IIs also known by the British as ‘Royal Tigers’, a Jagtiger and on international loan, an Elefant tank. The United States Army Centre of Military History, based at the US Army Ordnance Training and Heritage Center at Fort Lee, VA, has loaned the Elefant to The Tank Museum, and it crossed the Atlantic with some significant logistical planning, and funding, provided by Wargaming.net.

The Sturmtiger is the only one of the Tiger family not to be physically present, but will be represented using ground-breaking augmented reality technology supplied by software developer Wargaming. Visitors will be able to see and experience the full-scale Sturmtiger using prerogative headsets loaded with the latest digital applications.
