Nigel Hay’s round up of the military vehicle market

As it always does, the Stoneleigh Militaria show at the end of January kick-started the market for 2023. Most of the well-known Jeep spares resellers enjoyed a very busy morning and early afternoon of trading. The autojumbles, militaria fairs and military vehicle shows are the lifeblood of our hobby and even with higher fuel prices at present, all indications are that enthusiasts are champing at the bit to get out in their vehicles. Certainly, the show scene has changed with many new ones emerging offering regional alternatives to the longestablished War and Peace which, after three years of absence is supposed to return this July. Popular and highly successful shows like Capel are becoming victims of their own success as their acreage is limited. War and Peace was a trading heaven for us hungry buyers and no other show attracted the volume of sellers that it did. In easy reach of the Channel ports, it attracted a vast international footfall of buyers and sellers from across Europe.

Moving onto the vehicle market, the higher asking prices for genuine Slat Grill Jeeps compared to the standard MB and GPWs always amazes me and our highest priced Jeep…
