It’s the height of summer and what could be better than messing around in the river? We recently had five DUKWS and four GPWs come onto the market. One of the DUKWs was probably as challenging as you could wish for, but it sold for a lot less than the seller had hoped because of its condition. Another sold at a modest £14,995 – it needed finishing, but was in a fairly complete condition, and also sold quickly. A ready-to-swim tried and tested DUKW is still on sale at £95,000. This reflects the value of a river worthy (or seaworthy if you really want) DUKW that is fully operational.

Certainly more practical to own and operate, the Ford GPAs are always popular, but to get one to a water-safe and restored condition is a lot of hard work and needs some expertise. An award-winning GPA was offered by a US seller at €175,000 (about £135,000) and a project was offered at $115,000 (about £87,000).

On dry land, Jeeps have unsurprisingly dominated the classic pages this month. Certainly, we are not currently seeing the super high prices being asked for or achieved and there are plenty of showable wartime Jeeps for sale priced between …
